Frequently Asked Questions — MarineMat in Puerto Rico

How long does a MarineMat installation last in Puerto Rico's climate?

MarineMat EVA foam is specifically engineered for marine environments. In Puerto Rico's tropical sun and saltwater exposure, properly installed MarineMat typically lasts 5–10+ years. The UV-stabilized material resists fading significantly better than generic foam alternatives. Regular rinsing with fresh water extends life considerably.

Do I need to bring my boat to Cayey, or do you come to my marina?

Both options are available. We prefer to do templating at your marina so the boat is in its natural floating position — this gives the most accurate template. We then bring your boat to Cayey for the CNC fabrication, or you can drop it off. Installation can happen at your marina or at our facility. We'll discuss logistics on your free quote call.

How do you handle the templating for complex areas like rod holders, hatches, and cleats?

This is where our CNC precision makes the difference. We create individual templates for every cutout — hatches, rod holder bases, cleats, drain plugs, speakers, live wells. Every hole is mapped precisely in our CAD software before cutting. The result is a factory-clean fit that generic sheet-cut foam can never achieve.

Can I choose custom logos or patterns on my MarineMat?

Yes. MarineMat supports custom CNC-cut designs including boat names, logos, diamond patterns, and accent lines in contrasting colors. Custom design adds to the cost but transforms a functional product into a showpiece. Ask us to show you examples from past PR installs.

What adhesive do you use and will it hold in PR humidity?

We use 3M marine-grade adhesive specifically formulated for tropical conditions. We've tested multiple adhesive systems over 18 years in Puerto Rico and this is what holds best on fiberglass and aluminum surfaces in our climate. Proper surface prep (cleaning, sanding, degreasing) is critical — we do all of this as part of the installation.

How do I maintain my MarineMat after installation?

Rinse with fresh water after every saltwater use. For deeper cleaning, use a soft brush with mild soap — avoid harsh chemicals that can degrade the foam. Don't use pressure washers directly on the material. UV protectant spray (303 Aerospace) once a month extends color life. We provide a full care guide with every installation.

What's the turnaround time from first contact to installation?

Typical timeline: 1 day to quote, 1 day to template (at your marina), 3–7 days fabrication, 1 day installation. Total: 1–2 weeks depending on our schedule. During peak summer season (June–August), book 3–4 weeks in advance. Off-season (January–March) we can often turn around in under 10 days.

Do you work with government agencies and marinas on bulk installations?

Yes — PRO-Elements is federally registered (CAGE 18B14, SAM Active) and experienced in commercial/government contracts. We've quoted fleet installations for PR government vessels and commercial marina operators. Contact us for bulk pricing. We can work with SAM.gov procurement processes.

What happens if the MarineMat starts peeling after installation?

Our workmanship carries a full satisfaction guarantee. If a piece lifts or peels due to installation error within the first year, we repair or replace it at no charge. MarineMat itself carries a manufacturer warranty. Keep your installation receipt and photos — we'll honor the warranty.

Are you the only authorized MarineMat installer in Puerto Rico?

PRO-Elements is currently the only professional MarineMat installation service with in-house CNC fabrication capability in Puerto Rico. Our combination of local manufacturing (not importing pre-cut sheets) and 18 years of marine experience is unique on the island.
